SFE was set to face St. Louis’ Scott Gallagher Academy in the final.  However, the match was canceled due to wet, blustery weather and both teams were declared co-champions.  SFE’s road to the finals began with an exciting 1-0 win over Chicago Blast SC Red.  Both teams played evenly until left midfielder Ivan Gutierrez broke the Blast defense on a pass from forward Matheus Ayrolla for the lone goal.  The stingy SFE defense of Marcus Christian, Sergio Castro, Greg Joseph, Jared Skinner, Raul Loureiro and goaltender Brendan Brito preserved the win.  The Elite boys downed New York’s Albertson Academy 5-0 for their second victory.  Midfielder Rashad Christie tipped off the offensive barrage when he skillfully placed a cross on left midfielder Michael Henderson’s boot.  Henderson added another goal to go along with two from Ayrolla and one from right midfielder Alexander Marsh.  Midfielder Dylan Angelo and Castro assisted.  SFE advanced to the semi-final round through a 1-1 tie with vaunted Dallas Texans.  Marsh headed a pass to Christie who blasted a volley past the Texans keeper for a 1-0 halftime lead.  Texans scored the equalizer late in the second half.  SFE’s offense came alive again in the semi-final match to hand Illinois’ Eclipse Select a 5-0 loss.  Ayrolla scored all five goals with assists from Joseph, Henderson, midfielder Daniel Autrey, Castro and Gutierrez.

"I am really proud of my teammates’ strong performance in such a competitive tournament," remarked Captain Marcus Christian II.  "We can play with the best of the best, and I look forward to a bright future for our team."
