SFE and Schulz Academy Join Forces for 2008 Super Y Season

(February 28, 2008) Two of South Florida’s elite youth soccer programs have formed an alliance to play the 2008 Super Y League season. South Florida Elite Futbol Club and Schulz Academy have agreed to play the 2008 Super Y season under the Schulz Academy banner for the age groups: Boys U-13, Boys U-14, Boys U-15, Boys U-16, Boys U-17 and Boys U-20.

The combination brings together three of the area’s top trainers in Charles Freitas and Jorge Pitu Alvarez (Directors of Coaching for South Florida Elite) and Josef Schulz (Director of Coaching of Schulz Academy and Boca Juniors). It is recognition by these trainers that the top clubs in the South Florida must join forces to compete on a national level. "The talent in South Florida is spread thin because of the number of Clubs," says Schulz. "South Florida teams generally do well locally, but can be more successful nationally if they pool the talent." Freitas and Alvarez agree. "Pitu and I decided to merge Coconut Creek and East Broward United into South Florida Elite as part of the first step to consolidating South Florida’s elite player pool," says Freitas. "Our alliance with Schulz Academy will give both Clubs an even deeper roster of top players for the Summer." Pitu comments, "South Florida Elite’s alliance with Schulz Academy for Super Y seems almost natural. Josef, Charlie and I share similar player development and player exposure philosophies. We are looking forward to a fantastic Summer with a deep, talented player pool."
